DevOps and Managed Services are two different approaches that can both facilitate technological innovation in your company.
- DevOps – is a concept which encapsulates the collaborative relationship between development and IT operations, creating a reiterative lifecycle to continuously improve on a company’s technology.
- Managed Services – takes over the perfunctory, frequently tedious IT maintenance such as problem ticket support. Traditionally, IT professionals have served global enterprises as a gatekeeper to technological changes. The IT department has been wholly responsible for service strategy, design, transition and operation. They have been owners of business processes; they monitor and report on KPIs such as response time, down time, etc. After developers design, code and test solutions, the IT department plans, authorizes and takes charge of deployment in the cloud.
With DevOps, software developers and IT teams in charge of operations are in deep communication with each other. There is more cross-knowledge between the developers and IT operations and a more seamless workflow that eliminates sizeable knowledge siloes in the traditional model. This results in the smooth deployment of technology, such as software and updates in the safest, most reliable way possible.
